The Bible Tracker is a local-only iOS app. It does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or analyze your personal information. There are no accounts, no servers we operate, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. Everything you log in the app stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to enable iCloud sync or export a backup yourself.
All app data — your reading log, saved verses, notes, reading-plan progress, streaks, settings, and the optional display name described below — is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults, the standard iOS preferences store. The data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it or enable iCloud sync.
If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, The Bible Tracker stores a single encoded backup record in your private iCloud database (CloudKit, container iCloud.com.calebkawano.TheBibleTracker). This is your iCloud account, not ours. We cannot read this data. Apple's privacy policy and terms govern iCloud: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Turning iCloud sync off in Settings stops further uploads. Deleting the backup record from your iCloud (via Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device) removes it from iCloud.
During first-launch setup the app asks "What should we call you?" This is entirely optional — you can skip it, and every part of the app works without it. If you enter a name it is stored on your device in UserDefaults and used for one purpose: greeting you on the welcome screen. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else, it is not an account, and there is nothing to sign in to. You can change or remove it anytime in Settings, and "Reset all local data" clears it.
If you opt in to the daily reading reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device using UNUserNotificationCenter. No notification content is sent to or routed through a server. You can revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.
The app includes an optional "tip jar" with three auto-renewable monthly support subscriptions. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We never see your payment information, billing address, or Apple ID. You can cancel a monthly subscription anytime in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. A small on-device flag (isSupporter) is set after a successful purchase so the app can show a thank-you banner. This flag never leaves your device.
If you use the included Siri Shortcuts (log a chapter, hear today's reading, complete today's plan), the requests are processed on-device by iOS and the app. Apple's Siri privacy practices apply to anything Siri itself processes.
Per Apple's privacy manifest rules, The Bible Tracker declares its use of UserDefaults (required-reason code CA92.1: storing data for the app's own functionality). The privacy manifest is bundled with the app and visible to Apple's review tools.
We do not collect, and the app does not transmit, any of the following:
The Bible Tracker is suitable for all ages, does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone — including children under 13 — and is compliant with COPPA by virtue of collecting nothing.
You have full control of your data because it lives on your device.
